Will the Bangkok Contingent make Chiang Mai today?

I'm in town with The Bride and no mates.

Also, if anyone is interested, John Gooding and us will be heading out for 4 days from the Monday. Don't know where, but the Doi Phukha loop is on the agenda.

A road update in view of Dellboy's tip
https://www.gt-rider.com/thailand-motorcycle-forum/showthread.php/39090-1263-Mae-Chaem-area-to-Khun-Yuam

It seems to be the same old stuff from Mae Chaem - Mae Na Chon + a few more kms to the Ban Hong / Mae Sa turn off.
After that would appear to be ok - I rode out 15 kms west of Mae Na Chon up into the mountains where I think is is probably all ok.

294288=17568-GTR-R1088-2.jpg

294288=17570-GTR-R1088-4.jpg

The nasty sandy corner coming of the bridge that catches people out.

294288=17569-GTR-R1088-3.jpg

the ratty surface that has broken up

294288=17575-DSC_0283-1.jpg

not serious or difficult , just annoying.
& for a maximum of 100 metres, if that.
None of it steep.

More bits of sand

294288=17572-GTR-R1088-6.jpg

You just need to keep your speed down & watch the road, no day dreaming looking at the scenery.

294288=17573-GTR-R1088-7.jpg

Good & bad

294288=17574-GTR-R1088-8.jpg

294288=17567-GTR-R1088-1.jpg

294288=17571-GTR-R1088-5.jpg

stunning views, but sand on some parts to make you keep your speed down.

Mae Chaem - Mae Na Chon = 26 kms approx. Alternating race track asphalt / patchy bumpy asphalt. Keep your speed down & watch the road; & take care on all the blind corners.
Mae Na Chon - to the bridge with the nasty sandy corner = 10 kms.
After this it is up into the hills & a good asphalt road.
